Across the globe people are struggling with nutrition and health. In many regions of the world there are communities of people that can barely survive due to lack of nutrition. As distressing as this may be, I want to talk about the American crisis of having sufficient food, but not enough nutrition. We may not be a starving nation, but we are dealing with a pandemic of illness and obesity because of the vast choices of food that we are so blessed to have.
America is flooded with Dollar Stores, convenient stores and fast food at every corner. Even the homeless have easy access to food. Just sit on a corner with a sign and someone will soon offer you a cheeseburger.
The most difficult thing for many is getting food that is truly nurturing to their body. Food is energy, and America has undeniable access to this source of energy everywhere we look. But the problem is that for many we are getting far more of this energy source than we need. The problem is that the choices of energy we choose ultimately leave us energyless leading to more hunger and further illness and obesity.
In future readings, I will be talking about how we can overcome the daily challenges of food choices in our busy schedules and make wiser food choices. We CAN lose weight and have more energy. I will be talking about the struggles I myself deal with on a daily basis, both in my sugar addiction and my own weight struggles. Join me and others as we explore simple meal plans, budget-friendly recipes, ways to burn off the excess energy we carry, and so much more!
